I love serving and leading the Central MS Team! Everything we do is in alignment to see others come to know Christ and be discipled. The one-on-one relationships, huddles, and events all relationally driven with the purpose of knowing Christ personally and deeply. The discipleship model of ministry within FCA made my yes to serve with the ministry easy!
“He is an anchor for my soul!”
Hebrews 6:19
I was coaching at Jackson Prep and God had been doing things in my life to get me back on the path of following Him faithfully with my everyday walk. Then a FCA staff member Swayze Waters invited me to start a coaches Bible study with him for the coaches at Jackson Prep. I agreed to do it, and I instantly fell in love with coaches getting together around the Word of God. Two years later after doing that Bible study I felt God calling me into ministry and giving me a clear path to work for FCA and it has been one of the biggest blessings of my life. I am so thankful that FCA provided a way for coaches to get in the word together and grow spiritually.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33
I love FCA because I am surrounded by teammates who are unashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and love others so much they want to see it change their lives on a daily basis. Serving with such faithful teammates encourages me to better than I can be on my own.
“For we live by faith, not by sight.”
2 Corinthians 5:7
Working for FCA is a fulfillment on God’s call on my life. God has always been working in and through my life to lead and guide me to this point. He even gave my former Pastor in California a prophetic word about me working for FCA, even though we both did not realize it at the time. To see Gods plan come to life and maturity in me has been nothing short of supernatural. God, the Father, Jesus Christ, his Son, and Holy Spirit, have played vital roles in equipping me and orchestrating my new direction and life paths. My yes, and corresponding obedience, to the call placed on my life has opened and lead me through doors that ultimately allowed me to do “the good works which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them”. I am so grateful that FCA is a part of the journey!
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Matthew 6:33
Being married for 20 years to my husband, Coach Art, has allowed me to see the impact a coach can have on athletes. My husband is a tennis coach, and he always emphasizes that it is not enough to just win on the courts, but that the goal is to win in life. This is only accomplished by having a relationship with Jesus Christ. I have also seen the value of him discipling other coaches that now pour into my daughter, Kennedy. Her coaches have been influenced by FCA, and it is a joy to watch her learn life lessons through their FCA training. The FCA vision and mission was modeled in my home before I knew FCA existed. It is an honor for me to serve along side of my husband as an FCA Area Representative, and it is my goal to help as many coaches and athletes enjoy the life-changing experiences that our family has.
“Be imitators of God, therefore, as beloved children.”
Ephesians 5:1
I love FCA because it is the tightest knit organization in our schools. There is no other group that coaches and athletes will feel more supported and understood like FCA. Athletes already feel like no one knows what they go through on a daily basis, but for athletes who are following Jesus, it can be even more isolating. To have people that you can turn to who understand the daily commitment to both Christ and sport is crucial at every level!
“For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.”
Colossians 1:16
It is pretty cool that my connection to FCA began as I was going through the hiring process years ago. I did not know that FCA was the largest athletic ministry in the world, yet I had been doing FCA as a tennis coach for 22 years. A love for coaches and athletes has always been in my heart, and seeing them impact the world through a relationship with Jesus Christ has always been a priority. FCA has been a perfect fit for me from the very beginning and even more so now as I have the honor and privilege to serve coaches and athletes with my wife. My beautiful wife, Rosiland, joined the FCA team full time as Rankin County Area Representative. The verse below best describes my FCA journey, and I could have never imagined doing what I am doing right now.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5-6
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
